Ombre Alyssa

Alyssa's hair has finally grown long enough and healthy enough to do ombre!  (you may have seen her in my Blonde Bob post).  This was my first attempt at ombre and I think it turned out really well although this pic isn't great.  I really wanted to see what it would look like with loose curls but we didn't have time.

Fantasy Hair Show for Parkinson's 2011

Every year Innovations In Hair participates in a Fantasy Hair Show called "Tulipa" benefiting the Parkinson's Foundation.  This year two of our stylists, Cortney and Brittany did the hair updo's and I did the makeup.  The models were Santana Gentile and Jenessa Olsen and both were great to work with and the hair turned out amazing!  Awesome job girls!  Here are some pics of me doing the makeup.  Check out my Makeup Portfolio for shots from Brittany's photoshoot!

(okay, so I look a little frumpy in this pic, give me break I'm 8 mts prego! lol)

Natural Ammonia-Free Hair Colour

So last night I got absolutly NO sleep due to baby kicking me in ribs all night long.  Needless to say I wasn't all that excited to go to this colour education class this morning, but I'm sure glad I did.
I have been an avid Schwarzkopf user for the past 5 years and it always amazes me how they continue to improve their products, they are always updating their colour line and keeping on track with the latest trends.
Schwarzkopf has just relaunched their Essensity colour line.  It is fabulous.  Of course now I need to tell you all about it.
Essensity Hair Colour is made up of more than 90% Naturally Derived ingredients.  It is completely ordourless and ammonia-free!  And it also covers grey hair 100%.
It is completely free from :
  • Silicones
  • Paraffin/Mineral Oils
  • Parabens
  • Alcohol
  • Artificial Colourants
So what's even better than Ammonia-free, ordourless, 90% Natural hair colour???  How about Highlights? Yes, you can now get ammonia and fragrance free hightlights from the world's first ammonia-free lightening product derived from 70% natural ingredients.

Essensity also has a Hair Care line and a few styling products that are also natural and free from artificial fragrances, silicones, paraffin and mineral oils and parabens.  I tried some of them today and they are wonderful, they have a very pleasent light scent that almost disappears after a few minutes.

Here is my hair just coloured with Essensity 5-62.

So I've given you the low down, there's alot more info on the Essensity webpage, I will post it in the side bar.  Now why would someone want to use Essensity ?
  • If you are environamentaly cautious and don't want harsh chemicals going down the drain.
  • If you are health concious and prefer not to use harsh chemicals on yourself or breathe them in.
  • You work in a fragrance-free workplace.
  • If you have sensive skin or get allergic reactions to colour(always do a skin test first if you are allergic to hair colour).
  • If you are pregnant and unsure how you feel about the effects of hair colour on your unborn baby even though it is considered safe.
  • If the smell of hair colour bothers you or gives you a headache.
  • If your a hair colourist!  Using hair colour everyday that is less harsh will decrease your chances of developing allergies and reactions later in your career.
So why would you NOT want to use Essensity?
Essensity is NOT for everyone.  Althought it ia an amazing product for being 90% Natural, it does NOT perform the same as Schwarkopf's Royal Colour line.  That means if you have VERY stubborn naturally grey or white hair, it might not cover as well or last as long.  Essensity also has a more limited colour selection so you may not be able to get the desired colour that you can get with Royal.

Well that's all for now! Thanks so much for reading!
